It is distilled twice in copper pot stills at La Rojeña, which Cuervo calls Latin America's oldest working distillery, from agave cooked in brick ovens, then aged at least three years in small new American and French oak barrels. Each hand-blown bottle is wax-dipped, numbered and signed. Every year a Mexican artist designs the box; the 2025 box, by Ana Segovia, is titled "No Señorita, Esos Colores son Prohibidos" and shows a charro suit in fluorescent and pastel colors.

Cuervo describes oak, almonds, apples, olives and cinnamon with a long, silky finish. The Beverage Testing Institute gives it 95 points, calling it fancy, old and decadent, and VinePair 94.

It is Cuervo's flagship sipping tequila and a collectible gift; see all collector bottles.

Sip it neat in a tulip glass.

Shop more añejo and extra añejo tequila, top-shelf tequila, gifts from $100 to $250 and all tequila and mezcal, with Brooklyn pickup and same-day delivery across NYC.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0567/4893/3292/files/jose-cuervo-reserva-de-la-familia-extra-anejo-tequila-2025-box-750ml.jpg?v=1791893596
https://theliquorstore.com/products/jose-cuervo-reserva-de-la-familia-extra-anejo-tequila-2025-box-750ml
