A hallmark of French winemaking since 1950, Parallèle 45 is renowned worldwide as one of France’s most iconic wines. Named after the 45th parallel, which runs through the vineyards of Paul Jaboulet Aîné, this wine represents the perfect balance between the equator and the North Pole, capturing the essence of the land it comes from.
Crafted from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Marselan, all farmed organically, Parallèle 45 is produced from 40-year-old vines planted in clay-limestone soils with alluvial deposits. The grapes are destemmed, crushed, and fermented before the wine is aged for 6 months in a combination of stainless steel and tronconic French oak vats. These unique truncated cone-shaped vats provide a more reductive aging process, preserving the wine’s vibrant fruity aromas.
Harvest Notes
The 2022 vintage began with a dry winter, followed by a late budburst that led to rapid vegetative growth. A warm late spring saw flowering occur quickly, while the hot summer months, with a brief respite from storms, led to concentrated flavors and exceptional color. Mid-August rains helped the vines recover, yielding smaller grapes with greater richness.
Tasting Notes
This deep garnet-red wine offers a fruit-forward profile with vibrant notes of strawberry, raspberry, and spices. It features excellent balance, with smooth tannins that enhance its supple texture.
Food Pairing
Perfectly paired with Mediterranean vegetable lasagna or a decadent fondant au chocolat for an unforgettable dining experience.

James Suckling
"A well-rounded, juicy and fruit-driven blend of 53% grenache, 37% syrah, 5% mourvedre, 3% marselan and 2% carignan. It shows red berries, dried thyme, bay leaves and loads of baking spices on the nose, following through to a medium body with silky tannins and texture. It’s a serious Cotes-du-Rhone with plenty of fun and juicy fruit and a kick of spices lifting the finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold." |
