Riesling wines are very aromatic and sweet. This varietal originated in Germany, and Rieslings are sometimes considered dessert wines. These white wines go well with seafood and pork because of their high acidity and sugar content. Some great Rieslings are made in Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, and California.
Riesling grapes produce aromatic wines with perfumed aromas and high acidity. Rieslings from cooler climates (including most of Germany) tend to bear notes of apples and are fairly acidic. By contrast, Rieslings from warmer climates like Australia contain citrus and peach notes and have excellent aging potential. Rieslings are very noted for their ability to express the character of the geography in which they are produced, so it is worth paying attention to their place of origin.
