Charm Soju (Cham Soju in Korean) is made by Kumbokju Co., Ltd. in Daegu, South Korea. Founded in 1957, the company launched Charm Soju in 1997. Its affiliate, Gyeongju Beopju, makes the Ssal Makgeolli on our shelves.
Charm is a clean, unflavored soju. The Beverage Testing Institute reviewed it at 16% alcohol in 2024. In August 2026 Kumbokju announced a smoother reformulation for Korea at 15.5%, so bottles in the US may carry either strength. It comes in a 375ml bottle and a 1.75L size.
The Beverage Testing Institute describes it as juicy and smooth, with notes of rice paper, rice water, mineral water and linen, and sums it up as a subtle and clean soju that would pair well with food.
Against Saero Zero Sugar Soju, Charm is a classic regional soju from Daegu rather than a zero-sugar recipe; for a clean, traditional soju to drink through a meal, choose Charm.
The Beverage Testing Institute suggests drinking it on its own. Its clean profile suits a Korean table of grilled meats, stews and banchan.
