Heering Cherry Liqueur 750ml

Peter Heering began selling a homemade cherry liqueur from his Copenhagen grocery shop in 1818, and the recipe is still built on Danish Stevns cherries crushed with their stones, which gives it an almond note. It is bottled at 24%.

It is deep red and rich: dark cherry, marzipan and warm spice, sweet without ever being syrupy or cloying.

This is the cherry liqueur classic recipes mean when they say cherry brandy, and it tastes nothing like clear Luxardo Maraschino. If you mix, keep both; buy Heering for a Blood and Sand or a Singapore Sling.

Heering's own cocktails are the Blood and Sand, with Scotch, sweet vermouth and orange juice, and the Heering Sling, its version of the Singapore Sling with gin. It is also good neat after dinner.
