Frontera Chardonnay 1.5L

Frontera is the everyday range of the Chilean producer Concha y Toro, and this is its Chardonnay in a 1.5L bottle, the same as two standard bottles.

The grapes grow in Chile's Central Valley on well-drained alluvial and colluvial soils with low fertility. Frontera keeps it light and fruit-forward rather than oaky, and the winery calls the result fresh, smooth and well-balanced.

Concha y Toro describes a pale, bright yellow wine with apple, pear, peach, pineapple and mango. It finishes soft and easy.

Against Yellow Tail, Frontera is a little lighter, and the magnum is better value per glass; for a party or a long weekend, choose Frontera.

The winery suggests seafood, fish in creamy sauces, salads and white meats. Serve it chilled, at about 8 to 10°C, and keep it in the fridge after opening.

Frontera also makes a separate Buttery Chardonnay for anyone after that richer style.
