Diplomatico Mantuano Rum 750ml

Diplomático Mantuano replaced the old Diplomático Reserva. It is a blend of molasses rums aged up to eight years, made at Destilerías Unidas in Venezuela from column, batch kettle and pot stills, and bottled at 40%.

It is lighter and drier than the house's best-known rum, with dried plum, caramelized banana, coffee, oak and a little leather.

Pick Mantuano when you want Diplomático character without the sweetness of Reserva Exclusiva. It is the better mixer of the two, and good value for an aged rum at under $30; for the white version, see Planas.

The producer suggests a Diplomático Mule, a Mai Tai, or a Negroni with Mantuano in place of the gin. It is also easy on the rocks with an orange twist, or with ginger beer and fresh lime.
