Don Julio Anejo Tequila

Don Julio Añejo is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila from Atotonilco El Alto in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% alcohol. We carry it in 375ml and 750ml sizes.

It is made at La Primavera, the distillery of Tequila Tres Magueyes (NOM 1449), founded by Don Julio González and now owned by Diageo. The agave is slow-cooked for about 72 hours and distilled twice, then the tequila is aged at least 18 months in ex-bourbon American white oak casks.

Don Julio describes lime, grapefruit, mandarin and caramel, then cooked agave, wild honey and butterscotch, with a bright, lightly spiced finish. Wine Enthusiast's Kara Newman calls it well-balanced and sippable, with honey sweetness and a long butterscotch finish.

It is the classic 18-month añejo at about half the price of Don Julio 1942; for the younger style see Don Julio Reposado.
