Don Julio 70 Anejo Claro Tequila 750ml

Don Julio 70 Añejo Claro is a 100% blue agave añejo tequila from Atotonilco El Alto in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, filtered clear and bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle.

It was launched in the US in 2011 to mark 70 years since Don Julio González began making tequila, and is now often called Don Julio 70 Cristalino. Master distiller Enrique de Colsa makes it at La Primavera (NOM 1449): the añejo is aged 18 months in American white oak, then charcoal-filtered to remove the color while keeping the añejo's depth. Don Julio calls it the world's first clear añejo.

The flavor runs to vanilla, caramel and toasted oak with a clean, warm finish. Wine Enthusiast's Kara Newman notes charred oak, honey and vanilla and a banana-like finish.

It drinks lighter than the amber Don Julio Añejo, so it works neat or mixed.

Serve it chilled, neat or on ice, or use it in a margarita.
