Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila

Olmeca Altos Plata is a 100% blue agave tequila from Los Altos, the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% alcohol. We carry it in 750ml and 1.75L sizes.

It is made at Destilería Colonial de Jalisco (NOM 1111) in Arandas, owned by Pernod Ricard, and was created in 2009 by master distiller Jesús Hernández with bartenders Henry Besant and Dré Masso. The agave is cooked in brick ovens, crushed half by tahona stone and half by roller mill, fermented with some of the fibers and distilled twice in small copper pot stills. The bottle was redesigned in 2025, with "Altos" as the main name.

The flavor runs to herbal notes, sweet citrus and cooked agave, with a peppery finish. VinePair's Tim McKirdy notes spicy, herbaceous aromas and a hint of menthol.

It is one of the few blancos at this price that still uses a tahona, and it was designed with bartenders for cocktails.
