Planteray Original Dark Rum

Planteray Original Dark was sold as Plantation Original Dark until early 2024, when Maison Ferrand changed the name, and both labels are still on shelves while older stock sells through. It blends Barbados and Jamaican rums, aged first in the Caribbean and then in French oak casks in France, and is bottled at 40%.

It is dark and rich, with banana, marzipan, pear, nutmeg, chocolate and baking spice.

Older bottlings were based on Trinidad rum, so you may see it described that way; the current blend is Barbados and Jamaica. For a Mai Tai or a Planter's Punch it gives more depth than Goslings Black Seal at a similar price.

Use it as the dark rum in a Mai Tai, build a Planter's Punch with lime, sugar and bitters, or float it on top of a Rum Runner. It is also pleasant neat over ice.
