Plymouth Gin has been made at the Black Friars distillery in Plymouth, England, since 1793, in a single Victorian copper pot still. It uses seven botanicals and is bottled at 41.2%. Pernod Ricard owns it.
Plymouth is its own style: earthier and more rooty than a London Dry, with softer juniper, cardamom and citrus and a smooth, almost creamy texture. Its EU protected name lapsed in 2015, but only this distillery makes it.
For a Martini or a Gimlet that tastes balanced rather than piney, Plymouth is our pick. If you want bolder juniper, choose Tanqueray; for something softer still, try Hendrick's.
It is a natural fit for a Gimlet, and it also makes a fine Negroni or a gin and tonic with a lemon twist.
We carry it in 750ml and 1-litre bottles. More bottles are under gin, and the rest of our liquor is a click away. Pick it up at our Brooklyn store or get same-day delivery in Brooklyn, Manhattan & Queens.
