Taylor Fladgate Late Bottled Vintage Port 2020 750ml

Taylor Fladgate is part of The Fladgate Partnership, and its US importer is Kobrand. The fruit for this Late Bottled Vintage comes from the house's own vineyards and from leading properties in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior.

The 2020 is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca. Taylor's says its LBV is bottled after four to six years in wood. Kobrand lists 100 g/L of residual sugar and 19% alcohol.

The producer describes deep purple with a ruby rim and aromas of wild strawberry, cassis, raspberry, plum, licorice and rock rose. On the palate it finds firm, linear tannins with damson and plum, and calls the wine poised and slightly understated.

Against Fonseca Vintage Port 2017, the LBV is filtered, ready now and under a third of the price; for Port to open tonight without decanting, choose the LBV.

The producer says it's ready to drink and needs no decanting. Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with Stilton, Roquefort, or chocolate and berry desserts.
