WhistlePig Roadstock Rye Whiskey 86 Proof 750ml

WhistlePig finished this rye on the road. In 2021 it loaded barrels into an 18-wheeler it called the Rolling Rickhouse and drove about 6,000 miles from its farm in Shoreham, Vermont, out along Route 66 to California and back.

Half the whiskey rode the whole way in casks from Jordan Winery in Sonoma's Alexander Valley that had held its Bordeaux-style red. The other half stayed in new oak until Paso Robles, where Firestone Walker Brewing gave it imperial stout, imperial blonde ale and experimental ale barrels for the trip home. Back in Vermont the two were blended. Red wine fruit and malty sweetness sit over the rye spice, and the 86 proof keeps it soft and easy.
