Clase Azul Gold is a joven tequila from Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml decanter.
Clase Azul México (NOM 1595) blends three tequilas for Gold: its Plata, a small amount of reposado aged in French oak, and an eight-year extra añejo aged in American whiskey barrels and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The decanter joins clear glass to a black ceramic base, finished with gold.
Expect cooked agave, fig marmalade, toasted oak, chocolate and caramel. Falstaff gives it 92 points for vegetal agave, a touch of citrus and fine vanilla, with good length.
It is a rare gold tequila made by blending in long-aged tequila rather than adding colour, and one of our most giftable Clase Azul bottles.
