Bordeaux, in southwest France, is best known for red blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. On the Left Bank, appellations such as Pauillac, Margaux, Saint-Julien, Saint-Estèphe and Pessac-Léognan lean toward Cabernet: firm, structured wines that reward cellaring. On the Right Bank, Saint-Émilion and Pomerol are Merlot-led, rounder and softer. This page gathers our Bordeaux, from everyday Bordeaux Supérieur and Côtes de Bordeaux to classified growths and their second wines, along with dry white Bordeaux, sweet Sauternes, sparkling wine and Lillet aperitifs from the region when we have them. Vintages and bottlings change often and some sell out, so check what is showing on the page.

A good place to start is a château's second wine: it comes from the same estate as the grand vin, costs less and is usually ready to drink sooner. Give young Left Bank reds an hour in a decanter and serve them with steak, lamb or roast beef.
