Lillet Rosé is a wine-based French aperitif from Podensac, just south of Bordeaux, bottled at 17% alcohol in a 750ml bottle.
Maison Lillet has made its aperitif in Podensac since 1872, and Rosé was the house's first new product in more than 50 years. It starts with Bordeaux wine from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat grapes, blended with orange liqueurs made from sweet and bitter orange peels, other fruit liqueurs from Lillet's own distillery and a little quinine, then matured in oak. Extra red fruit liqueurs and a small amount of Lillet Rouge give it the pink color.
Expect strawberry, red berries, peach and pink grapefruit with orange blossom, and a gently sweet palate kept fresh by bright acidity. Wine Enthusiast gives it 93 points, and the Beverage Testing Institute and Falstaff both give it 90.
Serve it well chilled over ice with a slice of grapefruit or a few berries, or top it with tonic or sparkling wine for an easy spritz.
Compare it with Lillet Blanc or browse the full vermouth and aperitif range, with Brooklyn pickup and same-day delivery across NYC.
