Château Puyanché belongs to Vignobles Arbo, run by Bernadette and Joseph Arbo, who also own Château Godard-Bellevue. The estate sits in Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, the most continental corner of Bordeaux, east of the Libournais.
The vines grow on clay and limestone at some of the highest elevations in Bordeaux, with low rainfall. The 2019 is a Merlot-led blend with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This bottle is the 1.5L magnum.
Expect sweet, ripe black fruit with a dense, concentrated texture, firm tannins and a juicy finish.
Against Chateau Fleur La Mothe Medoc 2019, Puyanché is a Merlot-led blend in a big-format bottle; for a party or a long dinner table, choose Puyanché.
It's ready now. Open it an hour ahead and pour it with roast chicken, burgers or a cheese board.
