Don Julio Última Reserva is a 100% blue Weber agave extra añejo tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle with its gift box.
It is made from the last agave field that Don Julio González and his family planted, in 2006. Don Julio (NOM 1449), now owned by Diageo, released it in 2021 for the brand's 80th anniversary and plans limited releases until that harvest runs out. The tequila is aged 36 months in ex-bourbon oak, then finished in casks seasoned with Madeira wine, in a solera that blends tequilas of different ages.
Don Julio describes toasted oak and caramel, hints of apricot and orange, and a honeyed agave finish. VinePair (Tim McKirdy) gives it 93 points for its dried apricot notes, rare in tequila.
It is the most exclusive bottle in the Don Julio range, above Don Julio 1942.
