Patrón El Alto is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle with its gift box.
It is made at Hacienda Patrón (NOM 1492), owned by Bacardi, by master distiller David Rodriguez. Patrón blends its four-year extra añejo with añejo and reposado tequilas; it is labeled reposado because a blend takes the class of its youngest tequila. Part of the agave is crushed by tahona, and all of it is distilled twice in copper pot stills. The tequilas rest in eleven barrel types, mostly American and French oak.
Patrón describes apricot, vanilla, almond and cooked agave over dried fruit and toasted wood. The Beverage Testing Institute gives it 93 points, saying the agave still shows through the barrel. Patrón says its tequila is made from only agave, water, yeast and time, with no sweeteners or extracts.
It is one of the richest reposados we sell and a natural gift for an añejo drinker.
