Alexakis is one of Crete's pioneering family wineries. The grapes grow in high-elevation vineyards near Heraklion, up to about 650 meters, on sandy, calcium-rich clay, where winds off the Aegean keep them fresh. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and rests three months on its fine lees.
Expect white almond, saline minerality, green apple and citrus. It is lean and linear, finishing with salt and white nut. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Monica Larner) gives it 89 points.
