"The Alexakis 2025 Assyrtiko offers a subtle expression of the variety with delicate notes of white almond, saline minerality and restrained orchard fruit. Apple and citrus flavors are present but understated, giving the wine a lower-intensity profile than many young Assyrtiko wines from around Greece. Sandy clay soils rich in calcium and high-elevation vineyards in Heraklion reaching 650 meters above sea level contribute finesse and aromatic precision, while cooling maritime winds from the Aegean Sea help preserve freshness. Lean and linear in character, the wine is not built around mid-palate weight or concentration, favoring instead a lighter, more neutral style with a shorter drinking window.
