CMS stands for the three grapes in the blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Tom and Anne-Marie Hedges started the winery in 1987 and soon planted vines on Red Mountain, where they became one of the area's pioneering families. Today their daughter, Sarah Hedges Goedhart, makes the wines. CMS is the family's most approachable red, made for everyday drinking rather than long aging.
Expect black cherry, blackberry and raspberry with a little cocoa, vanilla and black pepper, on a medium-bodied palate with smooth, soft tannins and a lingering finish.
