Susana Balbo Crios Torrontes 2025 750ml

TA91

Susana Balbo Crios Torrontés 2025 is a dry, aromatic white wine from Mendoza, Argentina, made from 100% Torrontés and bottled at 13% alcohol in a 750ml screw-cap bottle.

Susana Balbo became Argentina's first female enologist after graduating in 1981, and she has worked with Torrontés since the start of her career; her winery is in Agrelo, in Mendoza's Luján de Cuyo district. Crios is her line of young, fresh wines. The 2025 comes from the Paraje Altamira and Agrelo vineyards in Mendoza (earlier vintages also used grapes from Salta). It is fermented cool in stainless steel and rests about three months on its lees, with no oak.

Expect citrus, passion fruit, lychee and white flowers, with lively acidity and a mineral finish. Tim Atkin MW gives it 91 points, praising its fresh, racy, stony style with lime, chamomile and cardamom.

Torrontés smells sweet and floral like Moscato but tastes dry, a good pick for anyone who likes aromatic whites such as Sauvignon Blanc.

Serve it well chilled on its own, or with crab, shrimp, raw or marinated fish, sushi and other Asian dishes, or goat cheese.

Shop more Torrontés and more white wines or the full white wine range, with Brooklyn pickup and same-day delivery across NYC.

Tim Atkin calls it "fresh, racy and stony," a well-balanced Torrontés with lime, chamomile and cardamom and a touch of tropical sweetness. He notes the 2025 now comes from Mendoza vineyards in Paraje Altamira and Agrelo.
