Lagavulin 11 Year Sweet Peat Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a peated single malt from the Lagavulin distillery on Islay, Scotland, bottled at 43% alcohol.
Released in 2026, it is Lagavulin's first new permanent whisky in about nine years. It is aged 11 years entirely in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks, with no finishing cask, to bring more sweetness to the distillery's famous smoke.
Expect toffee apple, vanilla and gentle spice on the nose, then a sweet, slightly salty start with bonfire smoke and oak spice, and a long finish of peat smoke, dark chocolate and soft vanilla. VinePair (Aaron Goldfarb) gives it 93 points and Whisky Advocate 91.
If Lagavulin 16 feels too heavy, Sweet Peat is the rounder, more approachable way into Lagavulin's smoky style.
