Casa Dragones Añejo Barrel Blend is a 100% blue agave tequila from the town of Tequila in Jalisco, Mexico, bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle with its gift box.
Casa Dragones was founded in 2009 by Bertha González Nieves, the first woman accredited as a Maestra Tequilera, and Bob Pittman, and launched this añejo in June 2020. It is made at Destilería Leyros (NOM 1489). Part of the tequila ages in custom-toasted new French oak and part in new American oak, and the two are blended at the end. Each bottle is numbered and signed, in batches of no more than 500 cases.
Casa Dragones describes floral notes and pear, figs and almonds, then macadamia, nutmeg and blackberry, with a finish of cacao and black pepper.
All-new oak from two countries makes it unusual among añejos; the brand also makes the Casa Dragones Blanco.
