Maestro Dobel 50 is a certified organic, 100% blue Weber agave extra añejo tequila from the Tequila Valley of Jalisco, Mexico, filtered clear and bottled at 40% alcohol in a 750ml bottle with its gift box.
It was created for the 50th birthday of Juan Domingo Beckmann, the 11th-generation tequila maker behind Maestro Dobel, and launched in the US in December 2021. It is made under NOM 1122, distilled twice in copper pot stills, aged at least three years in American and Eastern European oak and then filtered to remove the color. Proximo Spirits imports it, and it is certified kosher.
Dobel describes a clear tequila with platinum reflections, honey, cooked agave and dried fruit, then fig, quince, date and pineapple. VinePair (Tim McKirdy) gives it 95 points, noting its peppery, spiced finish.
It is an extra añejo in cristalino form, older and richer than Maestro Dobel Diamante.
Serve it slightly chilled, neat or on a large ice cube.
