Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack Tennessee Whiskey

Gentleman Jack is Jack Daniel's whiskey charcoal mellowed twice: once before it goes into the barrel, like every Jack, and again after it comes out. That second pass through sugar maple charcoal makes it noticeably smoother than Old No. 7.

Jack Daniel's says it was inspired by its founder, the original gentleman distiller. In the glass it's honey-coloured and gentle: caramel and vanilla first, then leather, cocoa and a little cinnamon, with a soft, rounded finish. It's bottled at 40%.

Pick it over Old No. 7 when you'll drink it neat or on ice. For a bolder Tennessee whiskey at a similar price, try Uncle Nearest 1884.

Serve it on the rocks with an orange twist, or make a Gentleman's Manhattan with sweet vermouth and a couple of dashes of bitters.
