Cantina Girlan is a cooperative winery in Girlan, in Alto Adige, northern Italy. Patricia is the entry Pinot Noir in its range, below the Flora, Trattmann and Vigna Ganger Riservas.
Girlan sources the 2024 from three Pinot Noir sites in Oltradige and Bassa Atesina at 380 to 530 meters, on moraine over volcanic porphyry and calcareous loam. The grapes are hand-harvested into small boxes, destemmed, fermented in steel for 18 to 20 days, then aged 12 months in large 50-hectoliter oak casks and 6 more months in bottle. It's 13.5% alcohol and dry.
The winery describes ruby red color, sweet and sour cherry and raspberry, and a velvety palate with a lively frame of acidity and a juicy finish.
Against Louis Latour Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2023, Patricia spends a year in large oak casks and comes from Alpine hillside sites; for a velvety, cask-aged Pinot Noir from the Alps, choose Patricia.
The winery suggests serving it at 14 to 16°C with Italian first courses and meats, and says it ages up to 8 years.
