Henri Bourgeois Sancerre 2025 is a dry white wine from the Loire Valley in France, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The Bourgeois family has grown vines for ten generations in Chavignol, a village in the Sancerre appellation, and this is the estate's classic Sancerre, from the two soils named on the label: clay-limestone and flint.
Expect lime and grapefruit, white flowers and a herbal edge, with zesty acidity and a chalky, mineral finish. Wine Spectator rates the 2025 vintage 90 points and Vinous 89.
If you usually drink Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre is the leaner, more mineral style of the same grape, with less tropical fruit. The Bourgeois family also makes wine in Marlborough, New Zealand, so they know both styles well.
Serve it chilled as an aperitif, or with oysters, grilled fish or Crottin de Chavignol, the village's own goat cheese.
