Lucano Anniversario Limoncello 750ml

Each liter of this limoncello takes 300 grams of PGI Sorrento lemons. Lucano makes it in Vico Equense, near Naples, by steeping the zest for a week in neutral spirit before the water and sugar go in. The company itself goes back to 1894, when Pasquale Vena founded it in Pisticci, and the limoncello is bottled at 30%.

It pours yellow and slightly cloudy and smells of fresh lemon peel. The palate is lemon peel and lemon flesh, with a hint of pine and a flicker of white pepper heat.

Mamma Mia Limoncello does fine in a punch. For sipping ice cold after dinner, or for a sgroppino, buy the Lucano.
