Newton Single Vineyard Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 750ml

Newton's Yountville single-vineyard Cabernet comes from a hillside vineyard on the lower slopes of the Mayacamas, above Dominus Estate. It was one of the winery's trio of single-vineyard Cabs, with Mount Veeder and Spring Mountain.

The 2017 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from blocks 311A, 311C and 312, with vines averaging 20 years old. It spent 12 months in French oak, 60% new, then about six more months in barrel after blending. Newton's Spring Mountain winery burned in the 2020 Glass Fire, and Moët Hennessy closed Newton in 2025, so this is a library wine.

The winery describes red fruit, blackberry, crème de cassis, dark cherry, vanilla and nutmeg, full-bodied with powdery tannins and a creamy finish of hazelnut and spice.

For more critical acclaim from the same vineyard, choose the 2018. The 2017 is the one to open now.

Decant it for an hour and serve it with lamb or roast beef.
