Orin Swift Palermo Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 750ml

Palermo is Orin Swift's Napa Valley Cabernet, blended from vineyards across the valley to show its patchwork of sub-regions. It sits below Mercury Head in the Orin Swift range.

Dave Phinney founded Orin Swift Cellars in St. Helena in 1998, and E. & J. Gallo bought it in 2016. For Palermo, the team pairs dark, concentrated lots from warm sites with savory lots from cooler ones, and treats each lot as if it were going into Mercury Head. The 2022 aged 12 months in French oak, 31% new. It's 15.2% alcohol.

The winery describes cassis, boysenberry, elderberry, chaparral and cedar, then cassis, blackberry and thyme, with soft tannins and licorice, black pepper and star anise on the finish.
