Presidential Tawny Port 750ml

Presidential is a Port brand of C. da Silva, a house in Vila Nova de Gaia that now trades as Dalva Distinctive Wines – C. da Silva. Falstaff lists the wine under the label name Presidential Porto Tawny.

This is a basic tawny Port from the Douro. Unlike the brand's 20 Year Tawny, it carries no age statement on the label. It's 19% alcohol.

Falstaff's tasters note plum confit, dark wild berries and cherry, with dried dark fruit and liquorice on a long finish. One retailer, Outback Liquors, describes a soft, fruity tawny style that is smooth and sweetly nutty.

Against Presidential 20 Year Tawny Port, this tawny is younger and costs far less; for everyday sipping or a dessert pour, choose Presidential Tawny.

Serve it slightly cool after dinner in a small glass. It works with pecan pie, almond cake, walnuts, dried figs or a wedge of aged cheddar.
