Raeburn was founded in 2013, and in February 2026 Crimson Wine Group bought the brand, calling its Chardonnay a top-10 domestic brand.
The wine is a blend from across Sonoma County. In the 2023, the latest vintage the winery has published details for, 44% came from the Russian River Valley, with the rest from Alexander Valley, Sonoma Carneros, the Sonoma Coast and other sites. The grapes were picked at dawn, fermented cool and aged nine months in French, American and Hungarian oak.
The winery describes pear, Gravenstein apple and nectarine with toasted oak, vanilla and crème brûlée, and calls the style creamy and toasty.
Against La Crema, Raeburn is creamier and more vanilla-led and costs a little less; if you like a rich Sonoma Chardonnay, choose Raeburn.
Serve it lightly chilled with roast chicken, lobster or a creamy pasta.
