Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon

Yellow Tail has been Australia's best-known wine in America since it arrived here in 2001. It's made by Casella Family Brands, a family company Filippo and Maria Casella started in Yenda, New South Wales, in 1969.

The Cabernet Sauvignon carries the South Eastern Australia label, which lets the winery blend fruit from across several states so the taste stays the same year after year. There's no vintage on the bottle. Casella marks it as vegan friendly, and it's 13.5% alcohol.

The winery describes red fruit and blackcurrant on the nose, then juicy blackcurrant, sweet mocha and spice on a smooth, velvety palate. It's softer and fruitier than most Cabernets.

Buy it when you need a red that almost everyone will like, especially in the 1.5L for a party. If your crowd likes drier, firmer Cabernet, pick something from our wines under $20.

Serve it slightly chilled, around 58 to 60°F, which keeps the fruit fresh. Casella suggests a Sunday roast; pizza works too.
