Bacardi Gold Rum

Bacardi Gold is the amber rum once labeled Carta Oro, and Bacardi lists it among its dark and gold rums. It is made at Casa Bacardi in Cataño, Puerto Rico, from molasses rums that are each aged before blending, and it is bottled at 40% with no age statement.

It is mellow and a little rounder than Superior, with vanilla, banana, caramel and a touch of oak and baking spice on a dry finish.

Choose it over Bacardi Superior when you want the rum to show up in a mixed drink rather than disappear into it. For a richer gold with more flavor at a similar price, step up to Mount Gay Eclipse or Appleton Estate Signature.

Bacardi suggests it for a Mai Tai or a Cuba Libre. For the second, pour two ounces over ice, top with cola and squeeze in a wedge of lime.
