Barefoot Moscato

Barefoot Moscato comes from Barefoot Cellars of Modesto, California, one of the brands in the E. & J. Gallo portfolio. Barefoot is known for affordable, easy-drinking wines sold in many sizes.

This is a California-style Moscato, a sweet white wine, and not an Italian Moscato d'Asti. It's a still wine rather than a sparkling or frizzante one, and it carries no vintage. Barefoot bottles it in six sizes, from a 187ml single serve and a 200ml through 500ml and 750ml bottles up to 1.5L and 3L, and retailers list a screw top, so it's easy to open and reseal.

Barefoot files it under "Sweet and Juicy" and describes tropical pineapple and orange blossom with juicy peach, honey and lemon zest, carried by light, crisp acidity.

Against Barefoot Pink Moscato, the original Moscato leans to tropical fruit and honey rather than red berries; for a sweet white to pour with spicy food, choose Barefoot Moscato.

Serve it well chilled. It suits spicy Thai or Indian dishes, fruit salad, cheesecake and other light desserts.
