John Jameson opened his distillery on Bow Street in Dublin in 1780, and the whiskey that carries his name is now the best-selling Irish whiskey in the world. Today it's made at Midleton in County Cork.
It's a blend of pot still whiskey, made from malted and unmalted barley, and grain whiskey, all triple distilled and aged in bourbon and sherry casks. That gives it a light, smooth style: vanilla, dried apricot and toasted wood, with a gentle nutty sweetness. It's bottled at 40%.
Pour it when you want an easy whiskey for a crowd. For a richer, oakier Jameson, step up to Black Barrel; for the pot still style on its own, try Redbreast 12.
Jameson, ginger ale and a wedge of lime over plenty of ice is the classic serve. It's also the whiskey to use in an Irish coffee: hot coffee, brown sugar, a measure of Jameson and lightly whipped cream floated on top.
We carry it in every size from the 50ml mini to the 1.75L. More bottles are under Irish whiskey, and the rest of our whiskey is a click away. Pick it up at our Brooklyn store or get same-day delivery across NYC.
