Niepoort Nat Cool Bairrada Tinto is a light, natural red wine from Bairrada in central Portugal, made from the Baga grape and bottled at 12.5% alcohol in a 1-liter bottle.

Niepoort is best known for its Port; Nat Cool is its project for light, easy-drinking natural wines in liter bottles. The Baga comes from old vines, 80 to 100 years old. It is fermented in stainless steel with carbonic maceration and wild yeasts, with no sulfur added during fermentation, and bottled unfiltered.

Expect pale, bright red fruit and cherry with floral notes and a hint of wild herbs. It is juicy, energetic and a little funky, with fresh acidity and light tannins.

If you like Beaujolais or chillable natural reds, this is the Portuguese version, with an extra glass in every bottle.

Serve it lightly chilled with charcuterie, pizza, grilled chicken or pork, or tomato-based dishes.
