Presidential Ruby Port 750ml

Presidential is a Port brand of C. da Silva, the Vila Nova de Gaia house that now trades as Dalva Distinctive Wines. Clemente da Silva founded the company in Gaia in 1933, and its early customers were mainly in Brazil and the United States.

This is a Ruby Port, bottled without a vintage or an age statement, so it's made to be enjoyed young. Falstaff lists it as "Presidential Porto Ruby" at 19% alcohol.

Falstaff describes a dark ruby wine with dark berries, plum and dark cherry, hints of vanilla and caramel, and a fresh, medium-bodied palate.

Against Presidential Tawny Port, the Ruby keeps its dark berry fruit rather than the dried-fruit notes of a tawny; for a fruity, youthful Port at the same price, choose the Ruby.

Serve it slightly cool after dinner. A young Ruby suits dark chocolate desserts, blue cheese and a cheese board, and it works in a steak reduction sauce. Once opened, keep it stoppered and drink it within a few weeks.
