The yellow label is the giveaway. Veuve Clicquot's Brut, known everywhere as Yellow Label, is the house's flagship and one of the best-selling Champagnes in the world.
The house was founded in Reims in 1772, and Barbe-Nicole Clicquot, who took it over in 1805 at 27, invented the riddling table that clears the yeast from every bottle. Today it belongs to LVMH, and Didier Mariotti is the cellar master.
The blend leads with Pinot Noir, about half, with Chardonnay and Meunier making up the rest. A large share of reserve wine, up to 45%, keeps the style steady from year to year.
Critics describe white fruit, toast and a honeyed, sleek texture with fine bubbles. It's a dependable, crowd-pleasing Brut with enough body for food.
If you want the same house in pink, the Veuve Clicquot Brut Rosé adds red Pinot Noir; for a party where everyone knows the label, buy Yellow Label. We stock it from half bottles up to magnums.
Chill it well and pour it as an aperitif or with fried food. Browse more Veuve Clicquot Champagne or the rest of our Champagne. Pick it up at our Brooklyn store or get same-day delivery across NYC.
