Beefeater London Dry Gin

Beefeater is still made in Kennington, London, where the distillery has worked since 1958, from a recipe that goes back to James Burrough in the 1860s. It uses nine botanicals, including Seville orange and lemon peel, and is owned by Pernod Ricard.

Juniper leads, with bright citrus and a dry finish. In the US it has been bottled at 40% since 2023, down from 44% and earlier 47%, so it is a little softer than older bottles.

For a classic London Dry gin and tonic at a fair price, Beefeater is the one to pick. If you want more strength for a Martini, choose Tanqueray; for a family-made alternative, try Hayman's.

It is a standard bar gin for a Negroni, a Tom Collins or a gin and tonic with a lemon wedge.
