Bonanza The Vinekeeper Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 1 750ml

The Vinekeeper is the Napa Valley step-up from Bonanza, the Wagner family's value Cabernet. Lot 1 is the first release of a series that will move between growing areas over time.

Bonanza belongs to the Wagner Family of Wine, the Caymus family, and Chuck Wagner is the winemaker. The regular Bonanza California Cabernet is mostly Lodi fruit; The Vinekeeper Lot 1 is all Napa Valley. Like the regular bottling, it carries a lot number rather than a vintage. It's 14.1% alcohol and sealed with a cork.

The winery calls it rich, fruit-driven, round and ripe. Retailers add cocoa powder, cinnamon spice, fine tannins and firm acidity.

For a Napa Cab with the Caymus family's ripe style at about a third of the price of Caymus Napa Valley, buy this. For an everyday house red, the regular Bonanza costs less.

Serve it just below room temperature with steak or leg of lamb.
