Hendrick's Gin

Hendrick's is distilled at Girvan in Scotland by William Grant & Sons, using two very different stills: an 1860 Bennett copper pot still and a 1948 Carter-Head still. Eleven botanicals go through them, and essences of rose and cucumber are added after distillation.

Launched in 1999, it helped start the modern wave of softer, more floral gins. It has less pine than a London Dry and more cool cucumber, rose and a gentle citrus finish.

If you want a refreshing, easy gin and tonic, Hendrick's is the safe pick; for a sharper, juniper-led drink choose Tanqueray. Fans should also try the permanent Another Hendrick's.

Hendrick's own serve is a gin and tonic garnished with cucumber rather than lime. It also suits a Gimlet or a Cucumber Collins.
