Josh Cellars was founded by Joseph Carr, who named it for his father, Josh. The brand is part of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits of Stamford, Connecticut, and the wine is blended and bottled in Hopland, California.

This Merlot carries a California appellation, so it draws on fruit from across the state. It's 13.5% alcohol, with about 6 grams per liter of sugar.

The winery calls it soft and inviting, with rich fruit, chocolate notes, sweet flowers and spice. Expect plum, dark cherry and toasted oak as well.
