Old Overholt 11 Year Cask Strength Straight Rye Whiskey 750ml

Old Overholt's Extra Aged Cask Strength series is Beam's yearly limited release of old, uncut Overholt rye. This bottle is the 11-year-old, aged in Clermont, Kentucky, and bottled at cask strength without chill filtering.

It's a long way from the light mixing rye most people know by the name. Nothing here is delicate: rye spice, black pepper and oak up front, then vanilla, caramel and allspice, a full body, and a long, peppery finish. Each year's release has its own proof and character.

For the year younger, the Old Overholt 10 Year Cask Strength is close in style; for the everyday version, the 4 Year.

Add water a few drops at a time, and taste between each one.

A Glencairn or small tulip glass helps the oak and caramel come through.
