SirDavis is Beyoncé's whisky, made with Moët Hennessy and named for her great-grandfather Davis Hogue, who made moonshine during Prohibition. Dr Bill Lumsden, best known for his work at Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, leads the whisky making.
The mash is 51% rye and 49% malted barley, a split you rarely see in American whiskey. It's distilled in Indiana, finished in sherry casks, then blended and bottled in Texas at 44% (88 proof). The barley and the sherry pull it away from the usual rye spice toward dried fruit and nuts, with pepper, oak and a little orange peel.
Buy it as a gift, or because you want to try something that sits between a rye and a Scotch drinker's whisky. If you just want a rye for cocktails, Rittenhouse does that job at a third of the price.
Sip it neat from a tulip glass, where the sherry fruit is easier to find.
We carry it in the 750ml size. More bottles are under rye whiskey, and the rest of our whiskey is a click away. Pick it up at our Brooklyn store or get same-day delivery in Brooklyn, Manhattan & Queens.
