Tanqueray No. Ten is made with whole fresh citrus. Grapefruit, orange and lime go into the 500-litre copper still nicknamed Tiny Ten at the Cameronbridge distillery in Scotland, with chamomile and juniper, and the gin is bottled at 47.3%.
Launched in 2000, it is brighter and more floral than regular Tanqueray, with a fresh-squeezed citrus lift and a long, peppery finish. The full strength gives it real weight in a cocktail.
If you drink Martinis, buy No. Ten over standard Tanqueray London Dry: the citrus does the work a twist would. For a softer, rose-led Martini gin, compare Nolet's Silver.
Tanqueray promotes it for its No. Ten Dry Martini, served very cold. It also makes an excellent Gimlet or a gin and tonic with a pink grapefruit wedge.
We carry it in 750ml and 1-litre bottles. More bottles are under gin, and the rest of our liquor is a click away. Pick it up at our Brooklyn store or get same-day delivery across NYC.
