It comes from the Gallo family, who have made wine in California since brothers Ernest and Julio Gallo opened their Modesto winery in 1933. This is a California red in a soft, sweet style, sold in 750ml and 1.5L bottles.

It's pleasantly sweet, with just enough body to stand up to food. Black cherry and raspberry jam lead the way, bright acidity keeps the sugar from feeling heavy, and the finish is velvety and soft.

Choose this for a no-fuss sweet red with jammy fruit; pick Stella Rosa Red when you'd like a lighter, semi-sweet red with a gentle fizz.
