Goslings Black Seal Rum

Goslings Black Seal is Bermuda's best-known rum, from a family business that dates to 1806, when James Gosling landed at St. George's. Gosling's is a blender rather than a distiller: it blends imported pot and column still rums in Bermuda and bottles them at 40%. The name comes from the black wax that sealed early bottles.

It is dark and full, with molasses, caramel, a herbal edge and a soft finish.

Black Seal is the rum a Dark 'n Stormy is built on, and nothing else gives that drink its color and depth. For more complexity in a Mai Tai, use Planteray Original Dark; for the overproof version, Goslings 151.

Goslings' own Dark 'n Stormy: fill a glass with ice and six ounces of ginger beer, float two ounces of Black Seal on top, and add a squeeze of lime.
